I think ultimately if your reading this it can be shown that large beer companies are not making as much money as they used to, and the Craft Beer market is eating into the sales areas. As the recessionary period has hit the UK/UK markets many companies are aiming for new markets so the only growth areas are in the Asian/Indian markets where more people are discovering Beer & Wine as well as Premium spirits.
The growth of Craft Orientated products aimed at the premium market are definitely the area for growth as we have seen the ‘special release’ or ‘reserve’ range beers that are being released by certain breweries. Some of these beers sellout before they even hit shelves. The more rare or exclusive the beer is, the more beer fans want them, so we’ll see more beers released in special/fancy bottles aimed at ‘Premium’ drinkers.
Several trends that I predicted a year ago haven’t happened such as the merger acquisition factor involved in several craft brands, but give it another 5-10 years when the growth subsides slightly, and market share amongst the craft segment is more settled. Companies like Sapporo, Molson-Coors have been looking at possible acquisitions of larger names, and a few brewers have sold up shop to larger brewers.
